Kaspersky Lab has recently reported, while expanding operation, companies start to use plenty of business support tools and new cloud services to create effective environment for their employees and lower costs. It indicates that 60% of work labour use more than one service application.
Cloud technology is a great advantage in supporting business and save costs for small enterprises and big corporations. Over 50% of companies with 49 employees (VSB) and 40% of companies with scale of 50-249 employees (SMB) own workers who regularly work outside the office and need access data and application through cloud storage. For bigger firms, the demand is even greater.
Many companies store data on cloud computing
However, activation of cloud service has its own shortcoming : lots of services and application are added in IT infrastructure as time goes by, while companies don’t take serious control. Subsequently, 66% of companies with 1-249 employees find it difficult in managing inhomogeneous IT systems.
The increasingly complicated probelm requires SMBs to change for their infrastructure management. But even IT experts are not qualified always to adapt to. Additionally, 14% of company with 50-250 employees put their trust in IT security from non-expert technicians. This may lead to risks for network security which takes time to examine.
Is data storage on cloud computing safe?
“Even if security function favours business development, SMBs still consider its importance to protect customer’s valuable data. For both VSB and SMB, data security is the biggest challenge. Nevertheless, the valuable data is stored into employee’s phone. Data leak damages company’s fame and results in financial loss in disputes” Kaspersky warns.
Though small businesses are aware of the threat, no one knows who’s responsible for the properties because they are processed in cloud service. Particularly, two-thirds (64%) of VSB answerers are convinced that providers take responsibility for security of exchanging material applications, while the figure for SMB is 56%.
Maxim Frolov – Deputy head of international business at Kaspersky Lab says “To take advantages of cloud computing at any phase, companies need to manage cloud platform and service more effectively. It’s really crucial to indicate who is responsible for network security”
